Other services

A number of new services are always being introduced. With the increased environmental pressure in Europe and elsewhere, pesticide and insect-resist residue contents have become of major importance. Arrangements are available for the analysis of chemical residues.

We are increasingly being requested to carry out textile and yarn tests, and facilities are available either at Wellington or through other SGS laboratories. Fibre blend qualitative and quantitative composition and identification services are available in Wellington.

Through other divisions in SGS we can offer both pre-shipment inspection for exports from New Zealand, as well as verification on receipt at port of destination or at the mill. These services can be supplied irrespective of which test house may have certified the wool. Pre-shipment inspection involves SGS inspectors witnessing loading of containers and sealing the containers using uniquely-identified tamper-proof SGS seals. Reports include photographs of the container during all stages of loading, plus confirmation that the shipment physically complies with all documentation.

We are routinely asked by exporters of NZ wool to carry out sampling at mills throughout Europe and Asia, and such facilities are available anywhere in the world. Sampling at destination includes a full description of the goods, including photographs where necessary. If required, re-weighing and full re-sampling, or partial statistical sampling, can be employed. Samples are sealed and couriered to the client instructions.
